Wolf Hall wins the 2009 Booker

Wolf HallWolf Hall wins the Booker prize for 2009 – and I am delighted because I think Hilary Mantel is a terrific writer.  I haven’t read the book yet but it’s on the TBR and I am looking forward to it.  I read Beyond Black a few years ago when it was shortlisted for the Orange Prize, and enjoyed it, and I’m intrigued by Mantels’ choice of topic. Oliver  Thomas ‘Bad Boy’ Cromwell, eh?

BTW Wikipedia proves its worth over a print encyclopedia for things like this: the article for Mantel has been updated to include her win already, within 24 hours of the announcement!

  1. Oh Lisa, it’s Thomas Cromwell, not Oliver. I’m hoping one of my internet groups will schedule it, otherwise I will find it hard to squeeze in such a hefty tome into my schedule!
