The NSW Premier’s Literary Awards shortlist has been announced.

The Fiction prize aka The Christina Stead Prize ($40,000)  can be for either a novel or a collection of stories.

2011 shortlisted writers are…

  • Peter Carey – Parrot and Olivier In America , see my review
  • Stephen Daisley – Traitor
  • Lisa Lang – Utopian Man
  • Alex Miller – Lovesong , see my review
  • Kristel Thornell – Night Street, see my review

I shall have to go shopping, I haven’t even got the others on my TBR!

  1. I’d only heard of two of them- the obvious ones- the Carey and the Miller. I feel out of touch.

    • Me too, Louise, but I think that just shows that the publishing industry needs to get better at publicity online!

  2. Lovely to see two Vogel prize winners in the mix!

    • It’s often a good predictor of writing talent, Melanie:)
