Book Giveaway: Three 2012 Dublin IMPAC shortlist titles

The Memory of LoveAs foreshadowed a little while ago, I’m hosting another book giveaway:  I won a competition hosted by Dublin City Library on Facebook and I’ve just received the entire set of shortlisted titles for the 2012 IMPAC shortlist.  But I’ve already read four three of them, and abandoned one, so I’m giving those ones away.  Aminatta Forna’s The Memory of Love has already gone to a local friend who’s promised a guest review, but there are three more to give away:

Rocks in the BellyA Visit from the Goon SquadEven the Dogs

Click on the title links or the bookcovers to see a description of these books at Fishpond.

It cost the Dublin library €46 (about $100AUD) to post the parcel all the way to Australia, so a big thank you to them for their generosity because we in the Antipodes mostly aren’t eligible for these giveaways from the UK, US and Europe.  To square things up, I am limiting this giveaway to Australian and New Zealand readers.

All entries from Australian or New Zealand residents will be eligible but it is a condition of entry that if you are the winner, you must contact me with a postal address by the deadline that will be specified in the blog post that announces the winner. (I’ll redraw if this deadline isn’t met).

So, be in it to win it!  Register your interest in comments below and I’ll draw the winner at the end of next week using a random generator.

BTW  these are the other ones on the shortlist that I’m keeping to read!

  1. Hi Lisa – Pick me!!! Pick me!!! A Visit from the Goon Squad – as I’ve read the other two. BUT I do love Tim Pears and have read all his books apart from Landed….ha ha!!

    • Let’s hope No 1 on the list is lucky for you, Kate! Does this mean you don’t want to be included in the draw for the other two? You could always give it away if you win it anyway…

      • Hi Lisa – no, I’ll leave the other two. More chances for everyone else then yes?? I’ll be interested to hear your comments on the others you’ve won. It IS a great prize.

  5. Good for you Lisa … but as I won your last giveaway I will opt out of this one to give others a chance. (I’m interested in your Goon Squad comments — it’s a book I’d like to read but probably won’t ever get to it.)

    • I think Trevor reviewed it favourably, I think it’s just me and my ‘popular culture bypass’…

      • Yes, I think he may have. Quite a few people did I think, which certainly increased my interest.

And thanks for sharing!! I’ve heard a lot about Goon Squad so I’d be interested in that. The other 2 sounds very interesting & powerful reads too!
